What is your motivation?
Life is short! The body and mind thrive on fitness. Feelings of achievement, and to challenge the body to be better, to encourage others to make the most of what they are capable of doing is truly motivating.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment was coming back after my life threatening bike accident. Doctors said I would not compete again and I was determined to do what I could to prove them wrong. Running the Boston Marathon 7 months after breaking my spine, with no training, was an experience that I will never forget.
Who is your hero?
My husband! When you work and have a family and are committed to a busy training regime, your spouse has to be a very tolerant and supporting individual.
What do you enjoy the most about your sport?
Everything! The preparation, the packet pick up, getting to the starting line, seeing the finish line, enjoying recovery, the people and other athletes around me…..its a lifestyle.
Why is taking care of your feet important to you?
Plantar Faciitis, tendonitis, bursitis, hammer toe, bunions, blisters, are all words that an athlete doesn't want to hear….taking care of your feet is critical to everyone, especially an athlete. The human foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, and 19 muscles and tendons. The bones in our feet make up for 25% of the bones in our body! Our feet are our foundation.
